Polonnaruwa > Sigiriya
After Breakfast proceed to Sigiriya via Polonnaruwa. Visit Polonnaruwa.
After Lunch proceed to Polonnaruwa
Polonnaruwa:
was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993. It comprises, besides the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, the monumental ruins of the fabulous garden-city created by Parakramabahu I in the 12th century.
The glories of that age can be found in archaeological treasures which give a pretty good idea of how the city looked in its heyday. You'll find the archaeological park a delight to explore, with hundreds of ancient structures – tombs and temples, statues and stupas – in a compact core. The Quadrangle alone is worth the trip

Day 3
Sigiriya
After Breakfast Proceed to Sigiriya.
Sigiriya - Rock Fortress and CityBuilt by an obsessed monarch in the 5th century, Sigiriya or Lion Rock is an astonishing feat of engineering and construction. The most striking portion of Sigiriya, a terracotta and grey core of rock set in the cultural heart of Sri Lanka, rises a sheer 200 metres above a forested plain, its flattened summit sloping gently. A series of moats, ramparts and water gardens — remnants of an ancient city — spread out on two sides of the rock, with the remains of a pair of giant stone lion’s paws still guarding the staircase that leads to the summit, once occupied by a royal palace.

Day 4
Kandy > Dambulla
Breakfast at hotel and departure for Kandy. En route visit the Dambulla Cave Temple.
Golden Temple of Dambulla:A sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries, this cave monastery, with its five sanctuaries, is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mural paintings (covering an area of 2,100 m2 ) are of particular importance, as are the 157 statues.
Another interesting fact is that the Archeologists state that this cave and other numerous caves around the main rock had been in use for dwelling in pre historic times too from the evidence found so far.

Day 5
Kandy
After breakfast visit the Elephant Freedom Project. After a short introduction you can help mocking out the elephant enclosure before joining the elephants on the daily morning walk. It is very important for elephants to get plenty of exercise. This walk is guided by the keeper (mahout) who is the only one who can control the elephant. When the elephants are back in the enclosure it is time for you to have a well-deserved break. After the break you can enjoy the authentic Sri Lankan cooking lesson in the kitchen of the local family.
In the early afternoon you go washing Manika and/or Seetha in the nearby river before we go on the second walk of the day. After this special experience you drive back to Kandy. En route visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya.
Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya:Once this garden belonged to the royal family, and today the great collection of more than 4000 different plant species attract over two million visitors per year.
